Or maybe you join a really great MLM or network marketing business and you have a website that they created for you. How are you planning to get people to see your website? Most people don’t have a clue how they should market their website and after a few months of zero hits they give up thinking this own your own business is a bunch of baloney and it doesn’t work.

Actually getting hits isn't that different than attracting customers to a business location. If your shop is tucked away in an alley without a sign and you don't advertise, there's a good chance that the only new customers you get will stumble across it by mistake.

There are many ways to generate traffic to your website so that you can get potential customers to see who you are and what your business is all about. Of these choices there are some that are more expensive than others while on the other hand there are many free or minimal cost ways to generate just as much if not more traffic to your website. A few of these are contained in this article below so pay attention or you will be missing out!

1. Search Engine Optimization

By learning more about what Search Engines look for when indexing sites, it's possible to adjust your site to suit their requirements. There are a number of factors to consider. Here are just a few:

Linking strategies - The more links that point to your site, the more instant traffic you will generate, but also, the more favorably search engines will rank your site.

Keyword density and relevance - The number of relevant keywords which feature in your body copy and the more frequently they appear in relation to the number of words on your page, the better your site will rank.

Site design - Search engines love certain site designs and dislike others. By knowing which ones are looked upon favorably you can then ensure your site design complies. For instance, framed sites are generally frowned upon.

Keywords and other metatags - In the HTML code behind your site there's the opportunity to include keywords. These are a list of phrases that your visitors are likely to type into a search engine to find your type of business. The more relevant the keyword, the more hits you're likely to get.Knowing what people type into search engines when they're surfing the Internet can give you an ace up your sleeve when it comes to adding keywords to your site. Naturally, adding popular keywords gives you a much better chance of getting hits. You can subscribe to a free report listing the top 500 keywords on a monthly basis through the Word Tracker Web site.

Some of the most famous successful businesses were founded during an economic recession. They are

evidence that entrepreneurial spirit can overcome even the worst of economic downturns and go on to

become lasting franchises. Contrary to many people’s belief, a recession is just as good a time as any to

launch a successful new business. All that is required is that businesses find a way to cater to the

needs of consumers. Recent history is filled with examples of companies that were founded during economic

recessions and have gone on to become some of the biggest brand names today. Here are a few examples of

companies that got their start during some of the harshest economic climates.

Hyatt Corp.

One of the largest international hotel chains in the world today, Hyatt opened its first hotel right next

to the Los Angeles International Airport during the Eisenhower recession, which lasted from 1957 to 1958.

There are now more than 365 Hyatt hotels in 25 different countries, offering top quality services.

General Electric

One of the oldest and most established corporate giants in America, GE was founded during the financial

panic of 1873, which went on to become a full-on recession lasting six years. GE began with the invention

of the first incandescent light bulb by American inventor Thomas Edison. GE ranks as the worlds tenth

largest company today.

Can you still recall the cartoon series featuring Wily Coyote and the Roadrunner?

"Fast" brings back the image of the Roadrunner zooming past the obstacles laid out by Wily Coyote.

Speed may allow you to arrive at your intended destination; but along the way, were you able to take note of the things that you may have missed while speeding along the fast lane? As in driving, zooming in fast does not give enough opportunity to see and enjoy the view. The same can be said about learning.

Much of what you learn can be acquired through reading. The simple activity of getting in a comfortable position and start reading a book of your choice opens a new world for you. Reading enables you to tap into the minds of great people.

The more you read, the more you know. In the hope of reading more books, some attempt fast track reading. It is believed that the faster you read, the more you cover.

Fast track reading may involve reading by phrases and concepts compared with the word-for-word method. Fast track reading enables you to cover more pages with the same rate. However, one limitation of this method of learning is that you tend to remember only a small portion of the main idea. There is danger that you might miss the important details in the book.

There is a solution for this. Few people are aware of this seldom-talked about technique in fast learning. This is based on the principle that the mind thinks in pictures.

Learning is accelerated when you "see" the whole idea of the write-up or book. Seeing "live pictures" of ideas and thoughts of the writer makes reading experiential and unforgettable. When you see nothing while reading, you learn nothing. Fast reading becomes useless.

It is recommended to use keywords in page titles itself. This title tag is different from a Meta tag, but it's worth considering it in relation to them. Whatever text one places in the title tag (between the <title> and </title> portions) will appear in the title bar of browsers when they view the web page. Some browsers also append whatever you put in the title tag by adding their own name, as for example Microsoft's Internet Explorer or OPERA.

The actual text you use in the title tag is one of the most important factors in how a search engine may decide to rank your web page. In addition, all major web crawlers will use the text of your title tag as the text they use for the title of your page in your listings.

If you have designed your website as a series of websites or linked pages and not just a single Home Page, you must bear in mind that each page of your website must be search engine optimized. The title of each page i.e. the keywords you use on that page and the phrases you use in the content will draw traffic to your site.

The unique combination of these words and phrases and content will draw customers using different search engine terms and techniques, so be sure you capture all the keywords and phrases you need for each product, service or information page.
